Iwappara Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture is ideal for kids and beginners. Since its establishment in 1931, Iwappara has developed a rich history in skiing. The resort features 20 well-maintained runs that cater to a variety of skill levels.

The vertical drop is impressive at 585 meters, while the top elevation is at 985 meters. The main slopes offer a 200-meter-wide, flat course for intermediate and advanced skiers to enjoy. For more advanced skiers seeking a challenge, the Giant course presents a demanding 35-degree slope. The summit offers beautiful views of the Makihata and Tanigawa mountain ranges.
Accessibility is another highlight of Iwappara Ski Resort. It is easy to reach from the Tokyo area, making it an excellent choice for weekend trips. Visitors can also benefit from joint lift tickets and season passes with nearby Joetsu Kokusai, allowing them to explore multiple ski areas in the vicinity.
The resort operates from December through March. It features night skiing, allowing guests to enjoy the slopes even after sundown.
