Held in Takasaki, Japan, the international tournament gathered highly trained karate athletes from different countries to compete under the standards and traditions of the Japan Karate Association.

For Murillo, participating in the championship was both an honor and a tremendous responsibility. Wearing the Philippine colors, he stepped onto the international stage carrying not only his personal ambitions but also the confidence of his instructors, fellow karateka and supporters back home.

Guided by Shihan Lito Luague

Murillo competed under the guidance of Shihan Gilietto “Lito” Luague, Chairman of JKA Philippines, who personally coached him throughout the championship.

Shihan Luague’s presence provided the Filipino athlete with technical direction, strategic preparation and encouragement while facing the pressure of world-class competition.

The partnership between coach and athlete reflected one of karate’s most enduring traditions: the bond between a teacher who passes on knowledge and a student who carries those teachings into the arena.

Murillo’s participation demonstrated the growing determination of JKA Philippines to develop disciplined competitors capable of standing alongside some of the finest karate athletes in the world.

Philippine Delegation Welcomed by JKA Leadership

Shemael Murillo joined the JKA Philippines delegation together with Liany Murillo and Trux Dilag.

The delegation also shared a memorable moment with Koichiro Okuma, Shihan, Chief of the Foreign Affairs Division of the Japan Karate Association, who joined the Philippine team for official photographs.

His presence underscored the strong relationship between the Philippine delegation and the international JKA community. It also gave the Filipino representatives an opportunity to stand alongside one of the organization’s respected international officials at the birthplace of karate tradition.

More Than a Competition

The journey to Japan offered the Philippine delegation more than an opportunity to compete. It allowed its members to experience the discipline, culture and remarkable modernity of the country where the Japan Karate Association was founded.

Following their activities in Takasaki, Liany Murillo, Shemael Murillo and Trux Dilag traveled aboard Japan’s famous Shinkansen bullet train to Tokyo.

The group visited Shibuya, one of the capital’s most energetic and recognizable districts, and stopped at the celebrated Hachikō Memorial Statue.

Hachikō’s story of unwavering loyalty carried a fitting message for the visiting karateka. Loyalty, perseverance and devotion are also values deeply embedded in the practice of traditional karate.

The delegates’ journey between Takasaki and Tokyo provided an unforgettable contrast: from the controlled intensity of a world karate championship to the dazzling lights and constant movement of one of the world’s greatest cities.

A Proud Moment for Philippine Karate

Murillo’s appearance at the Funakoshi Gichin Cup placed him among international competitors who had devoted years to mastering the physical and mental demands of karate.

His participation was itself a significant achievement. Reaching the world-championship stage requires discipline, preparation and the courage to perform while carrying the name of one’s country.

For JKA Philippines, the delegation’s presence in Japan represented another step in strengthening the country’s participation in the international karate community.

Shemael Murillo returned from Japan with more than tournament experience. He came home carrying lessons from world-class competition, memories of Japanese culture and a renewed responsibility to inspire other young Filipino karateka.

ルアゲ師範が世界大会でムリリョを指導

ムリリョは大会期間中、JKAフィリピン会長の**ジリエット・“リト”・ルアゲ師範（Shihan Gilietto “Lito” Luague）**から直接指導を受けた。

世界大会という緊張感に包まれた舞台で、ムリリョはルアゲ師範の技術的助言、豊富な競技経験、そして伝統的なJKA空手への深い理解を支えに競技へ臨んだ。

二人の姿は、師が技と精神を伝え、弟子がその教えを試合の場で体現するという、空手道における師弟関係の大切さを示していた。

ムリリョが繰り出す一つ一つの立ち方、突き、そして動きには、道場で積み重ねてきた長い稽古の成果が表れていた。

今大会は、彼の身体能力だけでなく、集中力、精神的な安定、そして大きなプレッシャーに立ち向かう勇気を試す機会にもなった。

ムリリョは、リアニー・ムリリョ（Liany Murillo）、**トラックス・ディラグ（Trux Dilag）**とともにJKAフィリピン代表団に参加した。

代表団は、日本空手協会の外事部長を務める**大隈浩一郎師範（Koichiro Okuma Shihan）**との交流の機会にも恵まれ、大隈師範を交えて公式記念撮影を行った。

この記念すべき一枚は、フィリピンと国際的なJKA組織との強いつながりを象徴するとともに、フィリピン代表団が日本空手の基準と伝統を守り続ける決意を示すものとなった。

フィリピン代表団にとって、日本の地でJKAの国際的指導者とともに写真に収まったことは、世界大会での経験をさらに意義深いものにした。

高崎の緊張感から東京・渋谷の躍動へ

高崎での大会活動を終えた後、リアニー・ムリリョ、シーメイル・ムリリョ、トラックス・ディラグの3人は、日本が誇る新幹線に乗って高崎と東京の間を移動した。

この旅は、世界空手道選手権大会の緊張感と規律に満ちた空間から、世界有数の大都市・東京の光と活気に包まれた世界へと代表団を運んだ。

東京では、世界的に有名なスクランブル交差点がある渋谷を訪問。巨大なデジタルスクリーンと行き交う大勢の人々に囲まれながら、日本の現代的でエネルギッシュな一面を体験した。

また、一行は忠犬として世界中に知られるハチ公像も訪れた。

揺るぎない忠誠心で知られるハチ公の物語は、フィリピンから訪れた空手家たちにとって特別な意味を持った。忠義、忍耐、そして変わらぬ献身は、長年にわたり修行を続ける武道家にとっても大切な精神だからだ。

JKA空手発祥の地で得た貴重な経験

日本で競技に臨んだことは、ムリリョにとってメダルや試合結果だけでは語れない、かけがえのない経験となった。

日本は、JKA空手の伝統、技術基準、そして哲学が育まれた国である。海外の空手家にとって、日本で稽古し、競技に参加することは、空手道の原点に触れる特別な機会となる。

ムリリョは今回の滞在を通して、規律が道場の中だけに存在するものではなく、新幹線の正確な運行や東京の人々の秩序ある行動など、日本社会のさまざまな場面に息づいていることを実感した。

この旅は、空手を通じて結ばれた二つの文化の交流でもあった。空手の伝統が生まれた日本と、その精神を受け継ぎ発展させているフィリピン。その両国を、若き空手家たちがつないだ。

フィリピンの誇りを胸に帰国

ムリリョは貴重な国際大会での経験とともに、国を代表することの重みと責任を胸にフィリピンへ帰国した。

船越義珍杯への出場は、フィリピンの空手家が世界の選手たちと同じ舞台に立つ勇気、実力、そして献身を備えていることを示した。

大会は数日間で幕を閉じたが、そこで得た教訓と経験は、今後も彼の空手人生の中に残り続けるだろう。

シーメイル・ムリリョにとって高崎は、単なる世界大会の開催地ではない。長年の鍛錬が世界への扉を開き、一人のフィリピン人空手家が国の誇りを背負って立った、忘れられない場所となった。

高崎の世界大会から東京のまばゆい街並みまで、ムリリョの日本での旅は、空手と文化、そしてフィリピンの誇りが一つになった力強い物語となった。
